Belt Update

Yesterday, November 30, we confirmed our belt order with Gates Corporation, who has very graciously donated both the belt and sprockets that we need for our design! The part specifications can be found here:

https://sdp-si.com/eStore/
Sprocket: A 6A22M034TM18
Belt: A 6R23MD375150 (x2)

Our parts are expected to arrive on Friday afternoon, putting us slightly behind schedule with manufacturing. We plan to have everything else machined and assembled by the end of the week so that this weekend we can focus on machining down the sprocket block and assembling the pulleys and belts.

Due to manufacturing delays, we have decided to use two 15mm width belts (stock size) rather than a single custom cut 1.25 in. wide belt. Also, the length of the belt is approximately 0.9" longer than we had expected. Due to these changes, we are looking into slight redesigns in order to separate the two belts and adjust for the larger center distance.

Finally, on behalf of our entire team, I would like to thank Gates Corporation once again for their generosity and support of our team!

  1. Thanks for the post Trevor. Have you had any problems with vibrations? Mine won't stop, and I think it's actually getting worse! I was thinking about buying vibration isolators. What do you think?
